Ceiling-Tile Antennas

Ceiling-Tile Antennas

In some cases, antennas must be totally hidden. This makes for an extremely tough installation. One possible solution is called a ceiling-tile antenna. Centurion Wireless Technologies offers such an antenna (see Figure C-5).

Although the antenna is pleasing aesthetically, it does have reduced coverage when compared to a typical "below-the-ceiling" antenna. Some of these ceiling-tile antennas come in multiple frequencies, offering a single antenna for servicing of paging systems, wireless phones, and wireless LANs, for example. The gain of ceiling tile antennas is usually fairly low, with 3 dBi being typical.
