Backup Your Computer
Essential Information
A backup keeps a copy of important files in case your
computer is corrupted by a virus. The simplest way to
backup is to save your most important files to a CD-ROM
every three to six months and store it in a safe place.
Another option is to use online backup.
Online Backup
If your files don’t take up lots of space you can save them
in a free webmail account such as Hotmail or Yahoo! Mail
which offer over a gigabyte of free storage (see Chapter
Nine for more on e-mail). Alternatively, you can upload
them to an online backup website. These websites allow
you to put your files in a safe place from where you can
retrieve them should your computer become corrupted.
Iomega iStorage
iomega.com/istorage
Offers up to 5 GB of free storage space for home users.
You have to pay a monthly fee to store more.
Xdrive
xdrive.com
You receive up to 5 GB of storage space for a small monthly
fee.
Streamload
streamload.com
This website allows you to upload a massive 10 GB of files
for free. You can then download up to 100 MB of files per
month for free. You have to pay to download more.
