The Reason DSSS Won

The Reason DSSS Won
While the FHSS transmits over a wide spectrum on numerous narrowband frequencies, the DSSS’s
bandwidth is always wide. FHSS therefore needs a much slower sampling rate in its implementation
and can accordingly be implemented with less expense. The decisive factor, however, is that DSSS
systems provide a robust signal with better coverage area than the FHSS [454]. These amplifications
are exactly what WLANs require.
