cHTML

cHTML
cHTML was developed by NTT DoCoMo as the wireless language to use
in programming the wireless devices that are served by their wireless Internet
access service, i-mode. cHTML ( Compact Hypertext Markup Language) is a subset
of HTML, but cHTML supports fewer character fonts and styles than HTML. cHTML
does not support image maps, tables, cookies, frames, JPEG images, style sheets
or scripts.
Currently, cHTML is not included in WAP2.0, as is XHTML Basic and
WML, but it still is in use for all i-mode wireless devices. It may be
incorporated in the future.
Figure 1.9 shows how
a user in the i-mode system can access a cHTML program via the Internet using
the i-mode ISP. This example shows a user that is requesting a game to be
displayed on his wireless device. The request is sent through the cellular
system, through the i-Mode ISP network, through the i-Mode server, and is
processed by the cHTML program. The program is written in cHTML code to allow
the game program to interact efficiently with the wireless device. The cHTML
program sends the information through the i-Mode server, through the i-Mode
network, through the wireless system, and is displayed on the wireless device.
